Transport to Cherry Trees is mostly the responsibility of parents/carers to arrange.

Some local authorities will provide transport to Cherry Trees and then home or school, which needs to be discussed with your social worker. If you have any concerns over this, when you are talking to us about your child visiting Cherry trees, please let us know.

We regularly take children who stay overnight to Pond Meadow School and transport them back to Cherry Trees after their school day for tea or overnight stays. This really helps parents with getting a longer respite period to really make the most of their time away from care. We occasionally transport children to other schools.

For day trips and visits, we have two Cherry Trees minibuses that have been specially equipped with ramps and hoists, so all children are able to take part in our programme of external activities. Last year we organised just under 200 trips out! Our grateful thanks goes to the Sobell Foundation who support the costs of maintaining our minibuses.

We have a dedicated band of volunteer drivers who help us with all our school runs. We are always looking for more drivers, so if you feel you could offer just one or two journeys a month - we would greatly appreciate your support. We provide training and on every trip our care team will be on board to look after the children. If is a wonderful way to see first hand the difference Cherry Trees makes to our families and their children. For more information see our Volunteer Page.
